Well any blackberry 9700 users out there using T-mobile service knows that the phone is well behind the times when it comes to OS!!!!! It was getting so bad that it seemed like a wide range of 9700 users were getting so mad that they were jumping to a leaked beta OS. Honeslty being a 9700 user on t-mobile myself i have even jumped to a beta OS. I know many 9700 users are getting very disgrunted by now seeing that when the device was first launched they were advised that there would be a OS update not far out that would support My favs and mobile back up. Well seeing that My favs has pretty much gone away i guess they can count that out. Now being that the us users have waited a long time to see this update i have been reading that there are still issues with this OS. One of the main issues with the orignal .330 was the phone would drop from 3g to EDGE for no reason or drop the call going from 3G to EDGE. This OS update according to T-mobile is supposed to resolve this issue along with other issues. After reading alot of posts on many different websites it seems to me the issue with the signal is still lingering. There have been users who have gotten exchanges that their new devices come preloaded with the .586 software and have been posting the issue is still there. I mean really T-mobile do you not test these OS’s before releasing? If this is the case and that issue is still around be prepared to deal with more disgrunted customers.
That’s why i feel wireless carriers should send OS’s to their users to test and report back. These people that they have testing softwares are prolly no where near being power users like some of us in the BB world. (prolly just some lame ducks in high end offices making six figures)
Update: According to the official T-Mobile forums, this update will actually launch May 19th…not the 18th and certainly not the 11th. We swear, its launching tomorrow, honest injun!
For many of you the Blackberry 9700 has been a terrific device following the excellent tradition RIM has set forth. For some of you, the 3G-dropped call issue has plagued you from the very beginning but fear not, T-Mobile is working with RIM to bring resolution to some of your troubles. We previously mentioned the update and had hopes for its arrival May 11th but due to unknown difficulties it was pushed back, if only for 7 days. According to the official T-Mobile forums you can finally expect to get your hands on this update May 18th.
Refreshing what exactly will be covered in this update:
