Nexus S updated already?

| December 22, 2010 | Reply

Well look what we have here… Looks like the Nexus S is already receiving an over the air update! Looks like this one is packing Raid as this is a bug killer of sorts. This will update your phone version from GRH55 to GRH78 and Android version gets bumped up to 2.3.1 same as the AOSP SDK.

Looks like this one is rolling out in stages but some users have reported luck to get the OTA to notify them after a “checkin” *#*#checkin#*#* from the phone’s keypad.

So you guys out there with a new Nexus S get the OTA yet? Did you try the “checkin” trick to try to grab it? Any changes worth writing about? Drop us a comment below and let us know!

Hey there early adopters, how are you enjoying your Samsung Nexus S? Have you noticed any bugs? Well hopefully the latest over-the-air (OTA) update will fix some of them. The newest update updates your phone from GRH55 to GRH78 and changes your Android version to 2.3.1.

Here’s a trick that some people are already familiar with, but doing it will apparently force your phone to update. Just go to your dialer and enter *#*#checkin#*#*

Typically doing a “checkin” doesn’t actually force you to grab an update, it just forces an update check, but in this case, it appears the opposite is true and will pull the update in for you. So if you’ve got a Nexus S, let us know if you’ve gotten the update!
