Skype does mobile video?

| December 5, 2010 | Reply

Exciting times are looking to come for us Skype users who have a video chat enabled phone! Skype is on the hunt for some new team members. Specifically they are looking to staff their Mobile Engineering Team. How is this good news for us? Well this would hopefully enable Skype to compete with the other video calling apps on the market today like Qik, and Tango and newly launched Yahoo IM. Let us know if you’re looking forward to seeing Skype video calling or do you prefer one of the all ready apps out today?

GigaOM was able to get confirmation today that Skype is looking to bring in 20-30 new members to its mobile engineering team.  Why is that important, you say?  Well because it has to mean one thing, video chatting is coming.  With apps like Tango, Qik and even Yahoo IM already pumping out video chatting options, it only seems time for Skype to finally jump into the game.  Let’s just hope they aren’t too late.
