Video : Google Maps Update 5.0 Walkthrough

The update I was waiting for, Google Maps 5.0 update. Why was I waiting for this one you ask? Well with this update I knew it would bring the new Vector images system to replace the tile images for updating the maps area which will allow for faster rendering and faster caching. This update also brought a much waited feature of 360 rotation via 2 finger rotation gesture and double pressing the “my location” button located at the top right corner. Another feature people were anticipating was the “3d view” that will allow the user to take two fingers and make a pull down gesture to tilt the plane which will show buildings in 3d. The only problem with that is that I do not live in a metro large city area so I do not have any 3d buildings right now but I am sure that is in due time. I do like the tilt feature to help me in navigation so I can see beyond my route. Check out the video below and let us know if this was that much of a needed update or how much you would use this. Official Google Maps change log below.

Recent changes:
* Explore the map in 3D. Two finger drag down/up to tilt; twist to rotate on supported devices.
* Use compass mode to rotate the map to where you’re facing. Center the map with My Location then tap again.
* Improved map caching and offline Navigation rerouting if you lose your connection.

Note: Some require Android 2.0+

Latest version: 5.0.0 (for all Android versions)
