Honeycomb on the Nook Color : Graphics Accelerated

| January 30, 2011 | Reply

We all know that the Honeycomb SDK Preview was dropped a couple of days ago and a guy has been working on this port for the Nook Color, but the really cool thing here is that he keeps progressively proving he’s not just a normal man. This guys, nay I say legend, is taking a SDK preview made so developers can get a preview of the upcoming Android OS via an emulation and making it work on an “e-reader.” I think this is where I remind people about this “e-reader.” The Nook Color is only $250.00 USD and is made to show you a plethora of books, instead is being used to show the next generation of tablet computing. This one thing proves to many people that “where there’s a will there’s a way.” He first started giving us pictures showing the lock-screen which is a very easy feat to pull off as a fake, but then gave us these videos to show off his skill. Piece by piece he has been making this work on something that is (I’m pretty sure) below the minimum requirements for tablet specsĀ  to run the Honeycomb OS. The funny thing is, he has Honeycomb running on his tablet when there are phones out there that are looking for Gingerbread on the horizon. I say we hire this guy and his friends to work their magic with these carriers so we get what we want sooner than later, agreed? Check out the video below of him showing of the graphics coming to Honeycomb. (granted still choppy, but it is an “e-reader for god’s sake!)
