Droid X2 sheds Mr. Blurry Cam. Rocking new Version of Blur!

| February 13, 2011 | Reply
Well look who decided to come out this fine Sunday morning and show off to all of us Droid X users out there, the new Droid X2!! We have brought you news before of this device code-named “Daytona” when it was last making the rumor rounds and now we have some high res pictures to go along with all those awesome rumored specs! The first thing that may come to mind is this new X2 looks VERY similar to the original X but notice the removal of the hardware camera button on the side of the phone in the screen shots. I for one like having an actual camera button but it does make for a more stream line look. This new X2 will of course be rocking the new Moto Blur (love it or hate it, it’s here to stay says Moto) found on the Droid Bionic and also have that very nice qHD display with a resolution of 540 x 960! No LTE or front facing camera for those video calls but with all this awesome power under the hood makes up for the no LTE in my opinion.

You guys out there holding out for the new X2? Frustrated it will not be LTE? Drop us a comment below and let us know!

Here is a quick run down of those specs just incase you forgot!

  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • QHD LCD Display - 540 x 960 Resolution (Same as Motorola Bionic)
  • 3G Only – No LTE/4G
  • 8MP Rear Facing Camera (No Front Cam)
  • Froyo (Android 2.2) – Could get Gingerbread (Adnroid 2.3) before launch
  • New Moto Blur (Same as Droid Bionic)
  • FM Radio
  • Locked/Encrypted BootLoader
  • Launch in Q2 of 2011
  • No Hardware Camera button

We first reported that the 2011 DROID line-up would include a freshly upgraded DROID X2 powered by a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, but now we have a set of pictures and additional specs to confirm all of that.  Site The Mobi Zone snagged an entire gallery of shots of the upcoming DX2 and you’ll notice right away that it looks no different than the original.  In fact, the only difference we’re seeing is the removal of a dedicated camera button.

The phone won’t have a front facing camera, but will have that dual-core power, 1GB RAM, qHD screen and the new Blur that we’ve seen on the BIONIC.  It looks like a beast, but the lack of a front camera is a little frustrating.  I guess Verizon won’t be including them in any of their non-4G phones?  And how could this phone have more RAM than the BIONIC?
