HTC Thunderbolt: Is the Dream 5 Connections or 8?

Are any of you readers are as anxious as I am for the arrival of the HTC Thunderbolt? If so, you might need a good chuckle to ease the tension. At this time, dummy units and marketing information are in the stores already. This flyer confused me a bit. It indicates that the HTC Thunderbolt will be able to connect  five devices at 4G speed. Now, we know that’s not the case–that it’s supposed to be 8 devices. Perhaps this is the reason for the delay. Droid-Life reports that they’ve heard from VZW insiders that the hold-up  may be due to the hotspot feature not working properly. We can still hope that the 14th will be the day…and if not, we all know it will be worth the wait, right? Let us know what you think in the comments!

We are as bored as you are with this HTC Thunderbolt delay, so we’ll attempt to change it up and bring a little humor to the situation.  We know that marketing materials and dummy units are arriving in stores right now, but this specific flyer gave us a good laugh.  The device will be the first to act as a mobile hotspot on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, providing connections for up to 8 devices…err…is it 5 devices?  We definitely know that the number is 8, but HTC’s element seems to disagree and mentions that it will deliver the “power of 4G to five different devices.”  Silly HTC.  Blame the marketing department for the delay!

And actually on a more serious note, we are hearing from VZW insiders that the delay is more than likely due to the hotspot functionality not working correctly.  When we broke the news on a push back, the 4G hotspot was also mentioned as no longer being on schedule and is the reason that the 14th will likely be missed.

Yes, but all the Best Buy sale pages that have leaked have the wrong SKU on them. They do not match what is on Best Buy’s own site … and they don’t willy nilly change SKU’s. I pre-ordered and was told the 14th. A friend pre-ordered his yesterday and was told Monday he would get his .. surely they would stop telling customers that it’s the 14th if it had been delayed … maybe VZW and Best Buy are having a bit of fun with everyone. Who knows.
