Microsoft Finally Removes Autorun for USB Drivers : Viruses Annoyed

| February 13, 2011 | Reply

Microsoft has just rolled out an update that could have prevented a lot of bad things like the “Conflicker” worm from infecting your computer via your USB drives. Until now every time you plugged in a USB peripheral the computer would allow anything on it to “auto-run” without the users permission thus making a virus have a gateway wide open to infect your computer. Until November has this update been released to the public on Microsoft servers but it has yet to be pushed out until today through Windows Update. For those of you hitting ignore every time that Windows Update windows goes over what you were doing, shame on you! Avoid the situation all together and protect yourself, you never know when a virus could be on that smart phone the next time you plug it in to your computer.
