Verizon Wireless announced via Twitter today that they’ll be rolling out their LTE (4G) service in “a mess of new cities and towns launching on Thursday”. That is this coming Thursday, April 21st.

We haven’t seen a release yet that outlines all of the markets yet, but from what we have gathered so far the following places will be included:

  • Lehigh Valley, PA (Covering Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, I-78 corridor and portions of Lehigh and Northampton counties)
  • New Hanover and Brunswick counties, NC (Wilmington)
  • Fayetteville, NC
  • Lumberton, NC
  • Extending coverage in Charlotte, NC
  • Clarksville, TN (Covering Ft. Campbell, St. Bethlehem, New Providence, Oak Grove KY, Hopkinsville KY)
So there you have it. If you live in or near any of the above areas it’s time to go grab yourself an LTE phone and/or USB Modem!
We’ll keep our eyes peeled for an official press release by VZW and let you know if any more locations will be included in the launch.
Do you live in an area that is getting LTE this Thursday and it isn’t listed above? Let us know!
UPDATE: Verizon is giving the Lehigh Valley public a sneak peek of their 4G LTE service in Allentown, PA today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., so don’t be surprised if you’re in that area and start seeing 4G coverage during that timeframe today.
We also have a report of 4G being live in Wilmington right now, so maybe all of the 4/21 rollout areas are getting sneak peeks today?
