If you go and try to rent a movie from the Market on an Android phone, and your phone is rooted you will see an error looking like this:
‘Failed to fetch license for [movie title] (error 49)’
Google says this has been done on purpose, and is for protection. I can understand that because when you have root you could easily get to where the cache is stored for the movie, change it and in essence steal the movie. It will take some time to see if this can be bypassed, but it’s nice to know google always knows if you are rooted.
