Skype Officially Acquired by Microsoft

There has been a ton of rumors and speculation regarding big players like Facebook, Google and Microsoft partnering or acquiring Skype. Now all of that can end…

It has become official that Microsoft will acquire Skype for $8.5 billion in cash. In the press release Xbox and Kinect support were mentioned, along with Windows Phone integration. The acquisition shouldn’t affect existing Skype clients on non-Microsoft platforms.
