HTC EVO 4G Goes Official Gingerbread

| June 4, 2011 | Reply

On Friday, June 3rd Sprint made the official Gingerbread (Android 2.3)update available for EVO 4G owners to check for and pull the update manually (Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates). Along with Gingerbread this update gives users Gmail and SMS fixes and a tweak for the phone’s power management software. If you don’t feel like going through the trouble of checking for the update manually (I’m hoping none of you are THAT lazy), the update should start pushing out and prompting users on Monday.

If you’re an EVO owner that uses Netflix a lot you might want to hold off, though, as the update apparently breaks Netflix on the phone. Netflix has acknowledged the incompatibility issue and stated via Twitter that they are investigating the issue.

Thanks to all who sent a tip on this!
