S.O.S. by the American Red Cross – Free in the Android Market

File this app under the “possibly too useful not to have” category.  The American Red Cross, Sharecare, and Dr. Oz have partnered to create the free app, available exclusively in the Android market. The S.O.S. app walks the user through a step-by-step victim assessment that’s meant to identify the distress, and guide the user through helpful techniques to alleviate 50 of the most common emergency conditions.  We all know proper technique is imperative, and the app’s 3-D animations and instructions help ensure the proper response. For his part, Dr. Oz demonstrates 30 of the life-saving protocols in instructive videos. Also included, audio and visual counters to help track CPR compressions, and integrated 911 dialing. Like I said, seems like this app could be too useful NOT to have, especially for free.
