Aliyun OS Wants To Be The Next Big Smartphone OS

| July 28, 2011 | 2 Replies

Ignore Google, Apple, RIM, and Microsoft. Alibaba is about to take over the smartphone world with their new OS. Ok, maybe not. But as I always say more competition the better. This new OS is linux base and will run Android apps as well as web based apps and navigation. The OS will store all call, text and photo information in the cloud (sounds safe, right?). They already have one phone coming out later this month with the OS in China and hope to be in the US by the end of the year. Will any hardware makers opt for this over Google or Microsoft? Not likely, but you may see some hackers attempt to port the OS to their Android handsets.

Until 4G is the standard everywhere in the country, this will get minimal acceptance in North America. People won’t wait for their info at current snail pace 3G speeds when other OS have their data available locally.
