The First Solar Powered Netbook Will Have to Wait to See the Light of Day

Sorry about the headline. Had to do it. The Samsung NC215S netbook comes with a solar panel built into the shell so you can harness the power of the sun to charge it. The report is that it takes about 2 hours of sunlight to get an hour use out of the netbook so that is pretty good. Amazon started taking preorders for the Atom powered netbook last week, but now reports have surfaced that delivery has been delayed until mid to late August. Just in time for fall and winter to come and ruin the fun. At the cost of $399 with an Intel atom N570, a gig of ram and a 250gb hard drive with the solar charging option, it’s a pretty good deal. You’d never technically need a wire for the netbook for internet, charging or otherwise. id like to see how fast it could charge my Thunderbolt via usb while using the sun.
