HTC has been increasing their prominence in the mobile device ecosystem for some time now by continuing to pump out quality cell phones, and now tablets as well. They might not get the press that the top 4 smartphone manufacturers (Apple, Samsung, Nokia, RIM), but they’re quietly becoming an juggernaut – and their latest business moves show that they’re determined to keep it going.

Just last week HTC announced plans to acquire Dashwire, the cloud services company behind Awesome Drop, for $18.5 million – and now they’ve announced plans to buy a majority (51%) of Beats Electronics for $300 million. Beats Electronics is the name of the company behind the popular Beats by Dr. Dre line of headphones. The acquisition, set to become final later this year, will result in Beats-integrated HTC phones – as soon as this fall.
