New Facebook Messenger App Enhances Messaging/Chat Experience

| August 10, 2011 | Reply

A new app from Facebook, released on both the Android and iOS platforms, allows users to send and receive messages using their Facebook account. Are you thinking, “Wait, can’t I already do that?” If you are, the new app, called Facebook Messenger, manages messages and even chat between you, Facebook friends, and contacts in your phone, without all the additional features of the original Facebook app.

From androidguys:

The features of the new app include:

  • Messages are delivered through notifications and texts so your friends are more likely to receive them
  • You can use Messenger to reach all of your friends whether on Facebook or in your phones contacts
  • The Messenger app is an extension of Facebook messages, so all your conversations are in one place, including your texts, chats, emails and messages
  • Group messaging: You can easily start group conversations, including your location to be shown on a map and attach photos
