I’m sure many have thought about how cool it would be to have one super machine that contains both an Xbox 360 and a PS3, but it never got past being a thought. Reddit user, timofiend, had that thought and then took it a step farther – he actually built it!
Timofiend took a slim Xbox 360 and an older 80GB PS3 and carefully fitted them together into a PC tower. Both machines are able to be played at the same time and he is “half confident it won’t overheat much”, although he hasn’t tested the setup with running graphically intensive games on both for an extended period of time. He wasn’t able to afford water cooling the rig, so he is just using its stock cooler on the Xbox 360 processor and a 120mm fan with a “shroud” redirecting its air to the PS3 heatsink. The PS3 idles at around 41 degrees Celsius and the xbox around 39, if both consoles are on at the same time.
Definitely a pretty cool set up. I wonder how long it will take somebody to up the ante and build a machine that contains even more systems?! Check out the gallery below for some more pics of his creation.
