Off Door Handle Can Turn Off Your Lights, Gas

| December 13, 2011 | Reply

Every time I get a new phone, I see the little sign on the wall plug that reminds me to pull the plug to save electricity. To combat forgetting ive used things like a remote powered plug that I can leave by my door, and when I put my shoes on I hit the remote and up to 6 plugs can be shut off wirelessly. I know it’s not the most efficient way to go about things but it works. A new concept door handle control would make this even more simple. When you get ready to leave you would be able to switch off the electricity and even the gas to your house right from the handle. I imagine the gas would only be needed when you are off for extended amounts of time. Water heater pilot lights are too big of a pain to always cut your gas off. And in the winter you sort of need your gas heat. Either way, it’s a neat concept and one day I have no doubt these kinds of things will be in houses.
