Android And iPhone Own 80% Of the US Smartphone Market

| March 29, 2012 | Reply

It should come as no surprise to anyone, really. Android and iPhone are the two monsters of mobile smartphones. Together the two account for about 90% of all smartphones owned. Blackberry once dominated over 60% of this market. But the lack of new phones and a better OS have all but killed the RIM phone division. Currently 48% of new smartphones sold are Android and about 32% are iPhone. So unless that trend changes sometime soon, 2012 will continue to be dominated by the big two. I am a big fan of the Windows Phone OS and hopefully it will catch on before MS starts to shutter development.
