Xbox360 Is Now Used More To Watch Video Content Than Play Games. MLB, Comcast And HBO Apps Added Today

A few months ago I reported that Microsoft was taking an approach to take over on demand video service. The plan was to use the current Xbox instead of trying to produce and market a new product similar to AppleTV or Google TV. Today Microsoft announced that over 50% of the time used on Xbox is for video watching instead of gaming. Today also marked the day for a few new apps to watch video or live content bringing the total number of apps allowing video feeds to 36. With the HBO app, you have access to every show that HBO produces past and present. If this trend continues it may be a workaround for people who want a cable service that is ala carte instead of paying for a bunch of channels you could care less about. Check your Xbox360 for the new apps, they should appear today.
