Google play is changing big time as well today with some announcements at the I/O keynote. First is the browser based Play Store. You can now update and uninstall apps via your browser based play store. The Play Store will also show an icon to you that will let you know if the app is installed on a phone, tablet or Google TV device.
On top of that across the platform are incremental updates. What this means is that when there is a small update to something like Google Maps you won’t have to download the whole 10 meg package. You will only need to download the parts that have been updated which on average will cut down the data downloaded by about 60%. This will be handled by Google and there is nothing you will need to do to take advantage of this new update.
The biggest upgrade to the Play store is the addition of magazines and TV shows. The play store has come a long way in the past 8 months or so and continues to give you access to more and more forms of information. You can now also download and keep movies in addition to renting them as you could before.
