Ouya, The $99 Android Based Video Game System Launches On Kickstarter [fund this]

Well, the fund this is kind of past. Less than 24 hours after the kickstarter for this project started seeking $950,000 to get off the ground, the company has raised $1,145,525 as of this writing. The idea is simple: A $99 OPEN android based gaming system packed in with the following specs:

  • Tegra3 quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB of internal flash storage
  • HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth LE 4.0
  • USB 2.0 (one)
  • Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
  • Android 4.0

By open they mean it will be easy to get into the unit itself and add whatever you want. The software will also be open for development as well. It sounds as if you will be getting a $99 dynamo with pretty unlimited possibilities. If you would like to get in on the Ouya, there are still about 3000 units left at the $99 price tag right now. That means in the past 24 hours 7000 of these are gone so get on it if you would like to have one of these consoles in your living room (moms basement) soon.
