Everyone knew this phone was on it’s way and it is finally official. Verizon let the cat out of the bag on the Incredible 4G. It’s more or less a HTC One S with a thicker, uglier body. It’s a mid range phone with a mid range price to go with it. The phone is set to launch July 5th for $149.99. Lets run down some of the specs:
4-inch super LCD qHD display
8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash, BSI, f/2.2 and 28 mm lens
Front-facing camera for video chatting with friends and family
1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor
Mobile Hotspot-capable to share a 4G LTE connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices
Support for up to 32 GB microSD(TM) memory card
The good news is this phone keeps a removable battery and removable storage. The bad news is the thing costs $200 up front and you have to wait 4-6 weeks to get $50 back. While this would have been a good phone for $150 or even $200 three months ago, the game has changed. If you put the $200 up front and forgo the $50 rebate you can get yourself a shiny new Samsung Galaxy S3 next week. It’s the best phone on the market right now. Verizon has kind of messed up the relationship they had with HTC the past year. No OneX, no OneS and this as a trade off. Look at a photo of the OneS then look at this. It’s terrible. If the OneX was available for Verizon customers they would have sold a ton of them. It launched too close to the Galaxy Nexus so Verizon didn’t want to interfere with the sales of their first Nexus. Now it looks like Samsung is going to put quite a dent in possible Incredible 4G sales as well. It’s too bad really, the newest version of Sense is a pretty nice UI.
