Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE to Hit Sprint Network on August 19th

Today Sprint announced that their next 4G LTE device, the Android powered Motorola Photon Q 4G, will become available on August 19th. The Photon Q made big news back in July when Motorola announced that it will be their first phone, since they began tightly locking down their bootloaders with the Droid X, to officially come with an official unlockable bootloader. Motorola also stated that “other products will have this option too in the future”.

The Photon Q totes a full QWERTY keyboard and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (rumored to be a Snapdragon S4). Other specs include: HDMI port, NFC, 4.3-inch ColorBoost™ display, 4G LTE, and Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Keep in mind, though, that Sprint’s LTE network is in its infancy and only available in a handful of locales. If you don’t live in Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Kansas City, San Francisco, San Antonio, or Waco, you’ll have to settle for 3G connectivity with this phone – as it does not have WiMax connectivity.
